Fourth sports forum held in Taipei

The Ministry of Education's Sports Administration staged the fourth 2025 Sports Event Taiwan Workshop Aug. 20 in Taipei City, underscoring commitment to enhancing Taiwan’s competitiveness to host international athletic events.
 
The workshop invited multiple academics and experts, including members of the Asia Association for Sports Management (AASM) from Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand as well as representatives from local government, university sports departments, associations and businesses.
 
Satoshi Koga, representative from Japan’s Tosa Township Sports Commission in Kochi prefecture, shared strategies and experience of coordinating global sports events in a keynote speech. Oshimi Daichi, vice president of AASM’s Executive Committee, spoke on how Japan stimulates local tourism through establishing new stadiums.
 
Two seminars were held as part of the workshop including one hosted by Chang Ching-hung, professor at National University of Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, in which speakers explored practical methods for city branding in sports competitions. Speakers included AASM Secretary General Yun Seok Choi and AASM Honorary Auditor Dittachai Chankuna, the SA added.
 
The Ministry of Sports is scheduled to be inaugurated Sept. 9 and the SA stated it will continue to leverage advanced sports technology and organize sports events that also incorporate cultural festivals, landscape and visitor sites to showcase Taiwan’s vitality. (POC-E)
